I’m gonna try my best to steer clear of any Olympic scandal or mention of the real life Aquaman’s golden quest because most likely, or at least hopefully, you’ve grown tired of all that jibber jabber. Instead, I want to focus on something I enjoy much more, and that’s music in TV commercials.
No doubt you’ve also been bombarded by countless commercials during these Olympics and when it comes to big sporting events like these, companies always pull out all the stops. Everytime there is at least one that really captures my attention and it’s usually due to the music used within the commercial. The usual result is me hitting the internet trying to find out what the heck that song was. How many times has that happened to you? This time around it was the commercial featuring the GM family of cars and after some quick digging, I found it was Brandi Carlile’s “The Story”. I was stoked to find out PlayPhone has the ringtone to it.
Other recent searches for my voracious musical appetite include Yael Naim’s “New Soul” for the MacBook Air and “I can’t seem to make you mine” by The Seeds as heard in the Axe Bullet commercial. I was actually able to find a video of The Seeds performing their song in classic form on American Bandstand.
But I still do prefer the Garbage remake, if only because it features Shirley Manson.
How about you? What TV commercial has you going crazy to find out the song?
