No, i’m not talking about a sudden shift in the political ideology of the world’s largest nation… i’m talking about a music album 17 years in the making!
Chinese Democracy is the title of the new Guns N’ Roses album that many thought would never see the light of day, in fact, most people thought it was just a myth. After a tumultuous start that saw musicians in and out of the line-up, not to mention skyrocketing production costs of at least 13 million dollars, the album is finally dropping this coming Tuesday November 23 exclusively at Best Buy stores. But was it really worth the wait and effort?
Like most people who know Guns N’ Roses, they either love them or hate them, and that seems to be the case in general for the album from the public’s eye but few reviews have sprung up and the reception so far, is lukewarm.
According to Billboard - “there’s certainly a ton of musical food for thought here, requiring several listens before the nuances are revealed. Worth the wait? Maybe. Worth a few hours of your time? Definitely.”
And Entertainment Weekly - “too often quantity gets in the way of quality: No rock cliché from the last decade goes unrepresented (hip-hop loops, nü-metal skronk), and did ”Madagascar” really need a horn section and Martin Luther King Jr. samples?”
But while you’re making up your mind to decide whether you’re going to part with your cash for the album, or search for more “creative” ways of obtaining the music, check out GnR in classic form:
