What have you done for Mom lately?

Mother’s Day is this Sunday which brings up the question, what will you do for her? After all, she went to bat for you and convinced dad to put you on their first ever mobile phone plan, right? So what do you think? Buy her some flowers? Send her a heartwarming card? At the very least pick up that cell phone of yours and give her a call? She’s not some girlfriend who will get over you forgetting a date or your dad that probably has a much better time just sitting down watching the game…she’s YOUR MOM! The woman who made special meals for you, fixed your boo-boo’s, washed your clothes, carried you to school both ways uphill! Let me tell you something, and I know this from experience, moms don’t forget no matter how trivial it might seem to you so you better have something great, not nice, planned for her.

Might I suggest for starters buying her a brand new spiffy handset with all the trimmings, and not one of those free mobile phones with monochrome screens either. I’m talking about full-on multimedia capable for mobile video, mobile music, mobile games, mobile web, 2.0 megapixel camera, GPS navigation and all that good stuff. While your at it, how about dressing it up with a ringtone or two from her favorite artist like Beyonce, Mariah Carey or even Amy Winehouse and Norah Jones. Or if she likes those American Idols, there’s Jordin Sparks, Taylor Hicks, Clay Aiken and others. The important thing is that you get her something she likes, can use, and LIKES TO USE. Just ask yourself how she really feels about that vacuum cleaner you got her for Christmas. With that in mind, you should probably spring for the mobile phone AND pay for her service as well.

Catching up with Music News

There’s tons of stuff going on in the music scene lately with new releases, tour dates and even FREE digital music downloads thanks to Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails. (Seriously, if you want to check out their new album, just head on over to the band’s website and download their full CD for FREE!)

For another free track, if you like The Offspring, check out their latest single also downloadable free from the band’s website. C’mon, you know you want to Hit That!

In other news, The Cure has finally set a street date for their 13th studio album. In true goth fashion, the release date is September the 13th with four singles to be released prior to then, one per month, starting with next Tuesday, May 13th. How spooky…but will it have endearing hits like Friday I’m in Love or Just like Heaven?

As for Avril Lavigne fans on the West Coast, well, unfortunately she’s gone ahead and cancelled six more dates on her “Best Damn Tour” and fans in California and Washington will have to wait for some other time. She’s apologized for the cancellations and things might get Complicated on a rescheduling, but let’s hope it doesn’t Fall to Pieces. Kind of makes you want to take that “Best” off of the tour name, doesn’t it?

Finally, Tina Turner, yep she’s still around, will embark on her newest tour come this October. Apparently her farewell tour eight years ago wasn’t so farewell after all. I don’t know if she’s lost a step or two since that time, but i’m sure fans are hoping she Better Be Good.

By the way, it is Cinco de Mayo so don’t forget to celebrate by grabbing a ringtone or two of Mariachi Music. Ole!

Making the Band 4 to Release Singles

Unless you’ve been living up under a rock, or are just too old to give a damn Puffy is back with his reality found singers/entertainers. The platinum selling Danity Kane, and new recording, and reality stars 26 Day both have new singles out. Inside sources have told me that Puffy is readopting his strength in numbers mantra that made Bad Boy so big back in the day. Apparently he and his team are feverishly forming a national campaign to drop both groups, along with solo artists Donnie all at the same time. Check out their smash tracks below. I actually like both of them a lot. But, you got to wonder if this will catch the kid’s interest.

Seems like bands from the 80’s and 90’s ran out of all their earnings? This time Ace of Base has announced that they are back again! However instead of being a group of 4 they will be a trio this time around! For now they are only on tour in Europe, but hopefully soon we’ll see them back in the US!

Then there were the Spice Girls who reunited for a tour in conjunction with their greatest hits album.

It’s only appropriate that the New Kids on the Block aka NKOTB make a come back with their 20th Anniversary of their album Hangin’ Tough! One of the original boy bands is set to appear on the “Today” show this Friday morning and perform! That’s right you’ll see Danny, Joe, Donnie, Jordan, and Jonathan singing your favorites, “Step by Step” or “Please Don’t Go Girl” Don’t forget to set your DVR or TiVo to catch their performance.
